CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. – US Marshals announced in a news release Tuesday that 20-year-old Damian Daniel Campos was captured yesterday in Kentucky after a joint investigation by U.S. Marshals in Western Tennessee and Kentucky.

Campos was wanted by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for multiple counts of rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.

A bench warrant for Campos’ arrest was issued out of Carroll County on Sept. 9, 2022, after a grand jury indicted him for three counts of rape of a child and one count of aggravated sexual battery. The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson, Tenn., adopted the case and launched an investigation to locate and apprehend Campos.

Task Force investigators discovered Campos was residing with a family member in Lexington, Kentucky. The Two Rivers Task Force referred the case to the U.S. Marshals Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force.

Marshals tracked down an associate of Campos who was picking him up in a vehicle on March 6. Task Force Deputies initiated a vehicle stop, and Campos was taken into custody without incident. He will be extradited back to Tennessee to face charges.

“We thank the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Kentucky for assisting us in the relentless pursuit of an alleged child sexual predator,” said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller, Western District of Tennessee.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
