Camden Softball Wins District, Baseball Eliminated From Region

CAMDEN, Tenn. – It took place three days later than scheduled, but the Camden Lady Lions defeated Waverly 3-2 for the District 11-AA tournament championship Sunday afternoon.

The game had been pushed back from Thursday to Sunday due to the weather moving through the area.

On top of the win, Addie Jo Melton, Audrey Jackson, Emma Pierce, Emmalee Stockdale, and Trinity Woodard were named to the All-District team.

The Lady Lions will host a region semifinal game Monday at 5:30 p.m. against Westview.

In baseball, the Camden Lions’ season ended Sunday afternoon with a 5-3 loss in the regional tournament at Stewart County.

Camden finished with a 17-12 overall record and as District 11AA runner-up.

This Lions team became the first since 2011 to win a regular season district title, host the district tournament, and the first to reach the region tournament since 2012.

This team also broke program records with 250 strikeouts and 135 stolen bases.
