Benton County Educators Receive State Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Some Benton County Schools educators were recognized Tuesday night at the Tennessee Department of Education’s annual Excellence in Education celebration.

Camden Elementary School Principal Kristie Wilson was named the West Grand Division Principal of the Year and Benton County Schools Supervisor of Instruction 6-12th grade Brandy Milner represented the Northwest region as a finalist for Supervisor of the Year.

Camden Elementary School Nurse Whitney Kee was also named as a 2022-23 Recognizing Inspiring School Employees (RISE) state finalist. She will go on to compete against state finalists from across the country for the National RISE Award.

“Each of these individuals plays an essential role in public education in our state by helping to ensure their students receive the best possible education,” said Tennessee Commissioner of Education Penny Schwinn. “I am inspired by the dedication of our outstanding education leaders across Tennessee, who prioritize the success of our students, educators, and state. Thank you for putting students first.”
